The London SEN Mediation Service provides training courses to meet the needs of local authorities. These courses are offered to staff in the local authorities (including schools) and parent partnership services we work with.

Please note that our courses are not currently open to members of the public or staff from other authorities.

Effective SEN Meetings with Parents

Attending this course will help participants ensure that meetings with parents of children with special educational needs (SEN) are beneficial, productive and effective- for everyone involved.  Participants work on the following:

  • Pre meeting considerations
  • Opening statements including ‘yes set’ pacing
  • Statements and mutual benefit statements
  • Dealing with and raising objections
  • Closing statements.
     

Excellent Email and Telephone Communication Skills

This course aims to help participants develop and enhance their telephone skills and email technique by working with them to:

  • Gain deeper insights into key communication processes

  • Utilise this understanding to improve email and telephone communication

  • Increase competence and confidence when responding to angry, frustrated and emotional callers.
