The London SEN Mediation Service gains Accreditation by the Civil Mediation Council

The London SEN Mediation Service is delighted to announce that, after a full assessment, our Service has been accredited  by the Civil Mediation Council (CMC).

The Civil Mediation Council was founded in April 2003 and promotes standards and best practice amongst mediation providers.

At the London SEN Mediation Service we see this accreditation as recognition for the high standards of service we have delivered year on year since 2002.

We are absolutely delighted to have been welcomed both as a member and an accredited mediation provider by the
Civil Mediation Council, an organisation widely recognised as a leading light in the mediation sector.

In order to gain accreditation  we had to provide evidence to the Civil Mediation Council of the high quality training we provide for our mediators, our efficient administration procedures and our ability to allocate experienced mediators to each case.

As we move into our sixth year we look forward to maintaining and developing the high quality service received by our clients.

National Anti Bullying Week
19-23 November 2007

Children with special education needs can often be the focus for bullying. The department for children, schools and families has recently issued guidance on tackling bullying in schools and cites mediation as one of a range of strategies that be used to combat bullying (Safe to Learn: Embedding anti-bullying work in schools).

Mediators can work with pupils, their parents, schools and local authorities to try to establish positive dialogue between those involved and improve relationships.

Mediation can provide a safe neutral space to:

  • Air feelings, anxieties and concerns,
  • Be listened to and be heard,
  • Reach agreements on working together for a safer, happier future.

By April 2008, the Government intends to have produced further specific guidance on how to tackle the bullying of children with special education needs and disabilities.

Call us in confidence on 020 7837 2900 if you feel that mediation could be useful in a situation involving bullying.
